Going away to college and living on your own is a new challenge for many students. It's also an exciting and busy time full of new activities, new people and new responsibilities.

We're ready to support you in achieving the level of personal accountability and independence you need to successfully make this transition.

We empower our students to be responsible by making healthy and responsible decisions, not only for themselves, but also for our community.

On a smaller scale, living with roommates can also provide important lessons in how to balance community and responsibility. It allows you to develop close friendships while also giving you abundant opportunities to practice tolerance, accept diversity, lead with compassion and stand up for yourself. Most of the time though, it's just more fun sharing your life with others.

Allthough you're not required to live in our sponsored residences, many students like the comfort, security, and camaraderie they provide.

Room & Board

Located in cozy neighborhoods near our facility and the local college campuses, our residences are fully furnished 2-4 bedroom homes. Each student typically has one to three roommates, and the lease includes a room, furnishings and utilities.

Every week, the student receives a grocery/gift card from their student account fund that they can use for food and household supplies.  Up to twice a week College Excel staff take the students to the grocery store, and assist them with healthy shopping, budgeting and cooking lessons, if they want them. Students living together can even pool their grocery money.

Other amenities include wireless Internet, cable TV, DVD players, and a washer and dryer.

Standards of Conduct

College Excel is an intentional community where every interaction provides a daily opportunity to grow and learn. It is designed to support you in achieving the maturity, responsibility and integrity it takes to be a successful college student and citizen.

Our policies and standards of conduct provide the foundation and boundaries to ensure a safe, quality learning and living environment.

In addition, the Standards of Conduct also serve as a guide for how we resolve issues. We also use them as an educational tool for resolving conflicts by engaging others in dialogues and resolutions that yield greater awareness for everyone.

The policies and standards of conduct are outlined in the student handbook.
